The Senior Product Design Engineer is responsible for leading and developing a team of three Electronic Design Engineers whilst maintaining a hands on design position. They will be responsible for the complete cradle to grave product design of low voltage, low analogue digital EMC products, creating test specification and then taking the product through production test. They will be required to ensure the product adheres to international regulatory standards and ISO9001:2000. They will liaise with new product introduction, production and overseas manufacturing suppliers. The successful candidate will hold an Electronics related degree or equivalent. They will have experience of working with a high volume manufacturing background and will have previous experience of designing RF, microprocessor or micro-controller EMC products. Due to rapid expanding they are now looking to strengthen their mechanical engineering team in the North West. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing design solutions for the nuclear industry and coordinating the production of design schemes/proposal drawings, details drawings, technical reports and studies and identifying/responding to tasks variations through formal change control. Capable of liaising with multi-disciplined teams of Engineers/Designers in order to address the project scope, you will be able to manage a small team of Mechanical Engineers undertaking the checking of mechanical deliverables. Checking experience is essential for this role. You must possess working knowledge and experience of applying relevant EH&S issues as required by legislation and you will previously have presented at Designers Risk Assessments/Design Reviews and HAZOPS. Also required: Good knowledge of fabrication techniques Understand 'Fit for Purpose' Ideally have hands-on experience Good knowledge of Geometric tolerancing, weld symbols, limits and fits, surface finish Good working knowledge of commonly used materials and standards Qualified in Mechanical Engineering, with solid relevant technical experience in relation to checking of manufacturing deliverables, we are ideally seeking candidates with recent nuclear background. You must have recent relevant design experience in order to guide designers in producing mechanical design outputs and must be fully competent with AutoCAD. Also essential is the ability to produce the design output as well as checking manufacturing detail drawing outputs of sub-ordinates (limits and fits, geo tolerance, weld symbols, surface finish, manufacturability etc.) You can expect a Pay Rate up to £30 p/h for this 6-12 month contract.
