1. Senior Java Developer
North
Sr. Java Developer will be engaged in design, development, and testing activities throughout the IT project life cycle (as detailed below) including technical design, development, testing, and support. The Sr. Java Developer will be responsible for application development and providing technical expertise for a variety of application development and support efforts. Work directly with Application Development Manager, Systems Analysts/Designers, Business Analysts, and other Application Developers to develop and integrate software solutions. Successful candidate will perform the following: Analysis: Interpret documented business requirements, assist in evaluating technical alternatives, and develop appropriate solutions. Help determine level of effort and time required for development activities. Design: Participate in technical design of application software and integration to ensure business requirements are properly translated and satisfied. Analyze database schemas, data models, and data integration requirements. Develop detailed technical design documentation. Assist with system design reviews. Development: Code Java applications, Servlets, and other applications as defined. Participate in code reviews. Testing: Conduct unit testing and systems integration testing. Assist with development of test cases and scripts as needed. Participate in analysis of testing results. Assist with troubleshooting and providing recommendations for remediation. Implementation: Assist with documentation to guide implementation and ensure proper setup of production environment (ie, User guides/procedures, training documents, recovery procedures, etc.). Provide guidance during implementation and deployment as needed. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field 7 years of progressive experience with Java/XML-based JEE application development Strong knowledge of application development and testing best practices and methodologies RDBMS development experience (Oracle SQL, Microsoft SQL Server) Experience in Unix and Windows-based environments for development and deployment Experience/familiarity with JBoss Good partnering skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with various people in business, operations, and IT Good communication skills, both verbal and written Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with user interface and design Flexibility and can do, solution-oriented attitude

The role is to work within a technical team providing technical support on Live Clearing & Settlement Applications. We need a pro active individual who can provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support and identify, develop workarounds and/or fixes for deployment into Live. You'll have experience with Oracle 10g or later with Oracle RAC, proven experience of PL/SQL, proven development experience on Java/JEE using frameworks such as spring, Struts, Hibernate, JSP and JSF. Knowledge/experience of XML, XSL, XSLT and experience in supporting large and complex applications within high availability/high volume environments. Any knowledge of Oracle Reports Developer or BI Publisher for creating reports and knowledge of BEA WebLogic 8.x or above would be highly desirable. £30k - £35k per annum
